    JBL, fired by CNBC
This may be a few days old, but I just found out today that John Bradshaw Leyfield (JBL for short) has been fired as financial commentator from CNBC.
For those of you not familiar with Bradshaw - He's a ex-football dude, turned wrestler. He's best known as that beer drinking white guy with the long dark hair in the tagteam APA. Finishing move: Clothes line from hell.
John Leyfield, in real life, is a smart financial guy. He was hired as a financial commentator by CNBC not too long ago.
Since his knowledge of being smart with finances became known to the public, his story line changed. He added the John and the Leyfield to his name, cut his hair to look professional, aquired a white stretch limo, dropped the beer drinking and became JBL: Rich all american - extremely cocky.
The first person on his crosshairs became the champ, Eddie Guerrero. Not just because he was the champ, but because he was a foreigner. JBLs new character hates foreigners, especcially those entering illegally. To prove his american-ness, a video was shown of him kicking the crap out of this mexican family as they tried to sneak over the border. Also - he gave Eddie's mom a heart attack at a house show. Yes, a bit silly, but all in all, a typical 'controversial' wrestling plotline that was just fun to watch!
Anyway - so now you have the picture of who he is - or i should say - who his CHARACTER is. (keep in mind the term 'Character')
So - as the WORLD portion of the World Wrestling Entertainment hints to, they travel the world.
    Enter JBL in Germany.
Acting in character, JBL does the most offensive thing you could do to the German 'foreign' crowd. He gives the crowd a nazi solute.
For some reason, this story became world wide. People were offended. BUT THAT WAS THE POINT! You were SUPPOSED to be offended, but only as a fan! Do people refrain from hiring Edward Norton because he was a skinhead in 'American History X', and that offended them? No. Why? Because he Edward ISN'T a skinhead! that was his character! Wrestling is NO different! These are characters! John Leyfield is NOT a nazi! JBL, his CHARACTER, is racist and ignorant. that's it! John Leyfield is an actor.
So - in response, CNBC fires John Leyfield, saying some crap about how John doesn't fit the standards of a respectable employee, or whatever...
What the hell is wrong with this world?? Not everything is reality TV. There still are scripted shows, with characters, and WWE is no exception. I know this. Everyone knows this. And this story is just dumb. People are dumb. CNBC is dumb.
I can only hope, that while although WWE responded that John was 'repremanded for his actions', that the statement was only political.
I look forward to seeing more of JBL, acting like JBL, UNEDITED, many more times to come.

WWE: this past Raw, and maybe more
What to say about this past Monday Night Raw.
I think like most shows as of late, my reactions are mixed. It started off great. A bit discusting - perhaps one of the more disturbing moments that I can remember, when Kane jumped on the steal chair locked on to HBKs neck, 'crushing his voice box'. Being 27, knowing the showmanship of the sport, I was still compelled to be concerned for HBKs health. It looked very real, very painful, and HBK really put on a show like his throat was crushed.
Of course - checking notable sources like 1wrestling.com, there was no news that HBK was truely injured during the event.
Now we go on to another big point - Eugene. What to say about him. I dont know. The 'controversial' nature of his character doesn't bother me. We've had mentally challeged wrestlers before - most notable, George 'The Animal' Steele. Nothing truely original here. I like how he emulates other people's moves. Its funny. The only problem is, he doesn't do any of the moves particularly well. He's a bit stiff. But besides that, he's been bumped up to one of the super hot characters, via the help of The Rock. The Rock - the most electrifying man in sports AND entertainment.. when he decides to show up, which is, what, an average of 3 times per year?? Was it worth his showing to pump up Eugene. I don't think so. But oh well. I hope his undefeated status ends with Triple H kicking his ass next week. And as far as my opinions on Triple H, i'll leave that for another blog.
The last point of interest in Raw that i'll mention today is the pregnancy scare with Lita. Do we need this? I remember certain pregnancy angles - the first one that comes to mind is the Stephanie McMahon/Triple H scare. That screaching voice yelling "I'm pregnant!" still haunts me today. But that angle ended before it truely started, and perhaps for good reason.
Do us fans really need to think that Lita is now carrying Kane's demon seed? What next? Is she going to have the baby? doubtful. I mean, is this angle worth 9 months of waiting?? Hey, perhaps the birth will be live on PPV. According to my calculations, the timing would be perfect, for, say.. Wrestlemania 21! yah. great. It'll probably either look like one of those face huggers from aliens, or the next incarnation of the Gobbley Gooker.. either way, i can't wait.
    dumb. dumb dumb dumb...

Anyway.. that's it for now.. until next week. laters

    the beginning
    So - where to start.
I'm bored here at work, i was bored yesturday too. I sort've stumbled upon this place, and figured i'd joing this blog craze.
It's a bit goofy, this whole thing. I'm an internet developer by profession, and have been since May 2000 (yah - i know - great time to sign up, right? it's been a ride. :) ). The first time i ever heard about blogging was on the news a couple months back. I guess it's been going on for years - oh well.
    Anyway -
There's plenty of stuff I want to eventually talk about here.
For one, work politics going on around here. It sucks. This might be a good place to vent.
Home improvement will be a topic. We have a nice little house, but we have issues that are pissing me off.
Computer talk. Not just professionally, but personally as well. I have a website and chat which i developed, currently sitting on a 'server', that isn't exposed to the outside world because of problems... that sucks too.
General politics. I've leaned towards being a republican for a while, but as i've grown, payed more attention to the news, and the policies of the current US administration, my views have changed. I think I'm libertarian, but i fear a libertarian candidate will never win. What to do..? thoughts?
Probably come September, I might talk about hunting. I just joined the sport last year, and I cant wait to do it again. Maybe this year, i'll be an accomplished hunter - who knows :)
Wrestling - duh! I should have made this topic 2 on this list. I'm a huge fan. Crazy. Sure, there are probably plenty crazier than me, but you can't have enough opinions when it comes to WWE.

Thats it for now. i'll be back. time to check emails.
